WebRawson was a founding member of the Sheffield Female Anti - Slavery Society, which campaigned for the rights of the slaves in the British Empire. By lectures and pamphlets, the society successfully boycotted to decrease sales of West Indian goods produced by slaves, such as coffee and sugar. WebAnne became active in the struggle against slavery and became a close friend of Elizabeth Heyrick and during the early 1820s sent each other pamphlets on social reform. They both favoured immediate rather than gradual abolition of the slave-trade. (2) In 1824 Heyrick published her pamphlet Immediate not Gradual Abolition.
