For a map to have your main base, meaning you travel the least amount possible, I would honestly say genesis 2 is the best.

WebBesides, Rock Drakes of all creatures suit the vibrant atmosphere of Crystal Isles. Aside from the spawn stuff my only other issues with the map are the LOD issues where things pop in and out quickly. It's a big distraction and is especially bad in the rainforest area. I also find the map kind of blinding at times, especially in the shoals. WebI tend to start crystal isles (if starting from new survivor), in the tropics at the southwest or just below the redwoods. Not many people take that area and if you stay a little bit back from the rivers you have alot of flat land to build and plenty of easy tames (parasaur, anky, doed).
